Sami-Matti Trogen made history – the youngest ever race weekend winner of the iRacing Rallycross World Championship

The iRacing Rallycross World Championship season started yesterday from Atlanta Motor Speedway circuit with 26 great Esport drivers around the world, who had been selected through a high-class qualifying series. Sami-Matti Trogen took a win on the first race weekend, at the same time being the youngest ever driver in the series’ history.

The series includes in total of nine race rounds. The series started yesterday, 5th of October, and will end on 30th of November. Trogen participated now for the first time, with an earlier received wild card. Trogen drives in the SET Esport team that has been launched this year by Rallycross team Set Promotion.

- This feels amazing, it’s hard to even realise that I won. I have trained a lot with my team mates during past month, but I didn’t know my real speed in the series until now, says happily smiling Trogen.

The race weekend started with qualifying, in which Trogen got himself to the pole position. There were very tight gaps between the drivers: even fifteen drivers were able to drive within 0.3 second. Already in the qualifying Trogen was able to win, which gave him the pole.

At the final Trogen nailed the start. He curved himself to the lead and ended up as a winner, while virtual spectators were cheering and commentators praising. Second was last year’s World Champion Mitchell Dejong (+1.216) and third team mate Tommi Hallman (+6.226).

- At the final I succeeded the start, the car was like rocket. For the whole final I was fully concentrated and there were no bigger mistakes. Four laps before the end of the race I noticed Dejong behind me and I knew that I needed to drive as fast as I can. I was able to keep the distance all the way to the finish line and it was a win, sums up Trogen.

Next round of iRacing Rallycross World Championship will be held at the rallycross track of Daytona on 12th of October.
